The pig is a scavenger. It is an omnivorous animal. It eats everything. There are many diseases carried from swine to man, particularly parasite infestations. Lately extensive research has been focused on senility-old age is characterized by hardening of inner lining of the blood vessels of the heart, brain etc. a process called atheroselerosis. When a clot forms, it results in coronary thrombosis or a heart attack, cerebral thrombosis or stroke.

Different dietary factors are responsible for atheroselerosis. Gross atheroma may be produced in rabbit by feeding it with cholesterol, but when you add lard (derived from hog fat) to the cholesterol, the incidence of atheroma is increased and thus you would produce coronary thrombosis, and myocardial infraction.

Besides, lard contains 2800 units of vitamin D per 100 grams and no vitamin A at all. Lately vitamin D has been held responsible for atheroma, by causing increased absorption of calcium in the blood vessels. In human beings, serum cholesterol is not dependent on the intake of cholesterol in the diet, but depends upon the proportion of animal fats in the diet, which elevates the beta-lipo protein level in the blood. Animal fats contain saturated fatty acids and these saturated fatty acids have been found to be as one of the causes of atheroma in man. Medium fat bacon contains 25% proteins and 55% fat.

According to medical research, the fat content in pork is more than any other meat (beef, mutton etc.) and it takes longer to digest. Dr. M Jaffer in an article in the Islamic Review (London) of January 1997 issue has listed 16 kinds of harmful germs, which have been discovered in pork in modern researches and the diseases, which could be caused by them. The number of patients suffering from tapeworm disease is the highest in the world among pork eating nations. Other diseases attributed to pigs are caused by tri-chinelia spirates and intestinal worms occupy first place among such nations too.

Dr. Glen Shepherd wrote the following on the dangers of eating pork in Washington Post (31 May 1952).

"One in six people in USA and Canada have germs in their muscles - trichinosis 8 from eating pork infected with trichina worms. Many people who are infected shows no symptoms. Most of those, who do have, recover slowly. Some die; some are reduced to permanent invalids. All were careless pork caters".

He continued "No one is immune from the disease and there is no cure. Neither antibiotics nor drugs or vaccines affect these tiny deadly worms. Preventing infection is the real answer."

After reading the statement of Dr. Shepherd, one can realize that there is no real guarantee of safety when eating pork that one would not be affected by trichina worm. That is why modern doctors advise three prohibitions during illness: no liquor, no pork and no smoking.

Muslims follow the divine law which is much higher than the medical advice. The Glorious Qur'an says, "So eat of the lawful and good food which Allah has provided for you, and thank the bounty of your Lord if it is Him you serve. He has forbidden for you only carrion and blood and swine-flesh and that which has been immolated in the name of any other than Allah; but he who is driven thereto, neither craving nor transgressing, Lo! then Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." (16:114-115)

i like bacon god created animals so we can look after them and live off them that means eat them pigs are one of the only animals who don't sleep in there own poo most animals eat anything if they get hungry enough and beef is the most likely to get diseases for you and and there was one theory that there is part of bacon which helps prevent swine flu and i like bacon I'm a Christian i don't really get vegetarian because we are made to eat meat and need to have protein in our diet

In fact the reason y muslim people think pig meat is not suitable to eat is pigs don't like hot dry weather like the one in mid eastern area, they easily get disease s in this weather. So the muslim don't eat them. But as far as i am concerned, meat is quite suitable to live in other areas like china n other asian places. So it is not reasonable to judge pig as harmful or something, after all, asian n western people eat quite a lot meat. We don't get any disease from this.
The only thing i can say about it is muslim people don't like it but we kinda do. We can't persuade them to eat pig meat nor can they persuade us to stop. This is it.

Scientists have proved that eating cooked properly won't get this flu n it's not exactly caused by pigs as either! So they change the name of the flu as h1n1. years ago there was also a big scare on beef "Mad Cow Disease" and "Foot-and-mouth" disease... I think:

In ancient times father could own his daughter n mothers also could sleep with sons. Even just few years ago a guy locked his daughter in the baseroom for decides n had children with her. Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

Why do you assume we are so much better than animals?

When you prepare shrimp for cooking, you take out its intestines! You have to scrape out the shrimp's guts, which includes ITS poop and stuff!

So WHAT if an animal we eat lives in its own feces? If its diseased when it dies... don't you think the HOT HOT HOT temperatures we use for cooking kill those germs?

secondly, don't you think the butcher cleans the meat before selling it? or is the pig's poop cost more?

thirdly, haven't I mentioned how shrimps are prepared? Scooping out the shrimps poop sounds a lot worse, there are other animals out in nature that are much more disgusting and a lot less tasty but you only seem to be focused on pork. Why? Your beliefs.

Do I really know this? I have NEVER been brought up as a Christian thinking that ANYTHING aside from the Forbidden Fruit was forbidden to eat. Its only in your religion your God says that you cannot eat something.

Christians can eat anything they want. It's not in the 10 commandments "don't eat pork, coz I am God and I don't you want you to eat pork" -- as a christian, that doesn't make sense to me. And for a God to be believable, their commandments MUST make sense.

Example, "Thou shall not kill"

See this makes sense because you shouldn't kill anyone. Having more people in the world is generally a GOOD thing, so its not for me to argue with it.

Vilsack said the samples collected at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair were part of a University of Iowa and University of Minnesota cooperative agreement research project funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which documents influenza viruses where humans and pigs interact at such as fairs.

USDA officials said the infection of the fair pig does not suggest infection of commercial herds because show pigs and commercially raised pigs are in separate segments of the swine industry.

The only legitimate comment you have here is the one about it being a fatty food, but that doesn't mean people eat pork constantly!
