Macedonia or F.Y.R.O.M as you call it (the country north of greece) is slavic... Your Macedonia is greek.... There are Slavic ndd Greek Macedonia! Ours is Slavic and yours is Greek.

the problem is that Greece was afraid back when Yugoslavia was formed that we would take their Macedonia and unite it with ours.... and today as of September 2007, 118 countries recognise the Republic of Macedonia by its constitutional name. These include all of former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, China, US, UK, Russia, Canada, Hungary, Poland, Romania ,Turkey and many others... But only a few recognize it a FROM including of course Greece, Australia, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, India, Israel and a few other ones that really don't have a voice in the decision. So i'm sorry that this bothers you but that's what it is called today and what it will be called! Long time ago there was a county well known to all, called Macedonia. Macedonia was big country with our Aleksandar Makedonski in head. He was great warrior. There was treshure, lot of people, scientist, country full of history. But one day the name greek came from nowhere.
They stole our thresure, our Aleksandar was born in greece and he was greek now. They stole our people, made them slaves and told them that they are mow greeks. The paople wore slaves for a long time and they forgot who they wore. Their children were greeks now and greece became country with stolen identiti, Macedonian identiti. They left us in our small piese of land with the name Macedonia. Macedonia was now pore country with no money, no people, no history, with nothing.
After that Yugolsavia came and we were together with them . Macedonian people forgot about the painfull past.
New age came and here we are . I became a member in Zorpia and the firs I see is some greek talking about Macedonia. You are talking how you're beeng a menber here for 4 month and you ask for changing the name.
Let me tell you one thing. The administrator can make you happy here but the Macedonian people will never pleaze greece about the name. The goverment will never change the name and we will enter Nato and Europe even if you're against it. You have a proofe too.The proofe is in Turkey and they know everything. When Macedonian goverment created comision to verify that in Turkey your goverment was against it and I'll let you guess why. I exspect you to apologise to Macedonians in here and never talk about Macedonia.

I understand your concerns, but let me explain ours. Do you know what a trademark is? It's a logo, or a name that a company uses and identifies a product. Today Coca Cola is a trademark. You can't use it unless Coca Cola the company authorizes you. This protects Coca Cola itself and other people from consuming a different product deceived by the same name.
It's a simple example, if you understand that you'll see why we don't want FYROM to be called Macedonia. Macedonia is a greek name and it has some heavy history to carry along the centuries. For you maybe history doesn't count, but there are people who care about history. Naming FYROM Macedonia is like selling orange juice in a bottle of Coca Cola, people will think it's something different. And to all greeks this is important. It affects our history.
And I ask you that: of all the names in the world why should you choose Macedonia? What's wrong with FYROM? And if there's indeed something wrong then why not find a name that doesn't already exist? Something unique? Something made especially for you and your people?
You are only a kid, as am I. But try to understand, naming FYROM as Macedonia harms Greece. Governments are a lot crappier than we all think. Ok, you don't care about Greece, you can't imagine that in the future your governors will want to expand towards us...but that's the thing man... that's what they plan. Yes, we tried and we couldn't. But we always supported this base, FYROM not to be named Macedonia. And anyways, if you read a bit of politics the past ages you'll see that Greece has supported all the Balkanians races to be treated this way now.
I know what was the state in FYROM, but changing the name doesn't make policies and political sustems die. We have fought a lot in our past, but never tried to change our name. hmm.. for this subject, we all gotta show some historical proofes and facts. Here are some who r saying that Hellas and Makedons are not the same nation:

Herod was speaking about the Krestonian people. He called him Pelazgian, and their language – barbarian, which is, as Herod is saying, - a language different from all the rest languages around.
This approves that Makedonians were speaking a language indistinct for Hellenic people.

In the other hand I guess Greece had to react when FYROM was declared by Tito, now it is kind of difficult for the FYROMIENS, because these new generations have grown up believing they are Macedonians.. we should understand them too.
